THE CHALLENGE

Epson Electronics America (EEA) Inc. is a leading distributor in the Semi-Conductor Electronics vertical marketplace. EEA has experienced considerable growth since its start-up and was faced with the challenge of ensuring that the Information System Solutions deployed were scaleable and Y2K ready. The existing information system solutions were not geared to adequately meet the Available To Promise requirements in an Engineered-To-Order setting at EEA. The forecasting, planning, order management and material procurement applications in use were not scaleable and not Y2K ready.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective was to replace the current CAMBAR applications with a robust solution that was Y2K compliant, scaleable and capable of meeting the challenges in a Post Y2K Internet Era.

SOLUTION

The solution was the Full Scale Implementation of Oracle General Ledger, Payables, Receivables, Assets, Order Entry and Shipping, Inventory, Purchasing, Planning and EDI applications.
The Material Planning business functions have been re-engineered. Forecasted Demand along with Customer Orders drive the Oracle DRP solution at EEA. Frame level requirements are consolidated based on SKU requirements and custom planning reports assist the Master Planner to co-ordinate procurement decisions with the Manufacturing Entity in Japan. The Material Procurement process has been greatly streamlined. Oracle ATP solutions address the complex ATP requirements of QD, IC and SMS product lines. The Shipping process has been automated.
The Rep Firms can now perform a real-time ATP and commit to customer delivery requirements all on-line and in a real-time mode. Additionally the Oracle ERP Application suite has been interfaced to CommercePath for Auto-Faxing of Business documents and St.Paul Software to address EDI needs. Several custom inquiries have greatly streamlined the Financial Period Close processes. The entire solution was implemented in a record 6 months (from Concept to Commissioning).

Streamlining Oracle Applications - A "Litton Aero Products" Challenge

SUMMARY

Litton Aero Products Division (APD) encountered major challenges in the implementation of Oracle ERP Applications 10.7SC. The culmination of the initial implementation process saw the magnification of these challenges. The Oracle Applications Solution had to be streamlined to gain user support as well as to assist APD maintain the market share and progress. EnTechSolv responded magnificently to the challenges and provided innovative solutions that have enabled APD to maintain and exceed the customer service requirements.

THE CHALLENGE

Subsequent to the implementation of Oracle Applications release 10.7SC, Litton Aero Products Division (APD) faced the Post ERP Implementation Challenges syndrome. Order Flow within the manufacturing environment was cumbersome. Scheduling service requests for the after market parts was time consuming and the list went on. Enormous amount of work based on the adopted processes to the production systems were crippling the shop floor. Alternatives to the Oracle Applications Solutions were also considered. However, Streamlining the Oracle Applications Solution was the need of the hour.

OBJECTIVES

Since considerable amount of time, efforts and financial investment had been expended, it was imperative that the streamlining of the business processes and associated solutions preserved the investments in the Oracle Applications.

It was also mandatory for the professional services partner to use 'best-of-breed' methodologies and come up with recommendations that could be applied consistently at multiple locations of the business.
